Chili pepper with the scientific name of Capsicum Annuum, is an annual plant with a height of 30 to 60 cm. Its fruits are found in different sizes. Some are transparent, green, yellow, and red and contain many flat seeds. When it’s fresh it is odor-free with a pleasant spicy flavor, but the ripe fruit is really spicy.
Red peppers are a great source of vitamin C, carotenoids, polyphenols, and other phytochemicals. One cup of red peppers provides three times more vitamin C than an orange. It’s best to eat red peppers raw – the heat in the cooking process depletes the vitamin C content.
