Gantar dates is one of the valuable exported dates of Khuzestan province, Iran. It doesn’t have domestic use in Iran and is mainly exported. Gantar dates are also known as Qantar or Ghandi in different areas. These dates are fine-grained and moist. This type is one of the most export dates of Khuzestan (Shadegan, Khorramshahr, Abadan, Ahwaz, and Behbahan). In addition to Khuzestan, they are also cultivated in Borazjan, Ahram, Kazeroon and Darab. They are semi-arid in Haji Abad. These dates are mostly consumed in rotab and date form. An oval fruit, 9.27 gr weight, soft fruit texture and yellow color, middle skin thickness, flesh to pit ratio is 7.93. An oval, light brown pit. Pit and warhead low adhesion to the fruit, in ripening stages it changes from green to yellow and yellow to pale brown in color. Gantar date is moist and can be kept for a long time.
